The Disappointed Travelers

Four fans named Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie are four such fans.

Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie had their flights and tickets booked for the fourth and fifth Tests "well ahead of time", dreaming of a rare England series success.

Sadly, they've observed Australia dismantle the tourists in just under two weeks from their house in the north of England.

"People in the office has been teasing me about it being over for the last two weeks," said Sam.

"We always thought that we would have the series on the line still when we got there."

Fading Positivity

Hope was abundant regarding the team's prospects of securing a first win in 15 years for a victory down under prior to the first ball.

But they are now staring down the barrel of continuing a barren spell in the country to 19 matches when the next match starts in Melbourne on Thursday, 25 December.

Ben Stokes' side - and their fans - will be keen to prevent a dreaded 5-0 scoreline.

It was mentioned that the "excitement and fun" of head coach Brendon McCullum's 'Bazball' in the past couple of seasons had "renewed interest in" the longest format for England fans.

However, the group said they had minimal hopes for the final two games - and all they are asking for from the players is "a bit of fight".

When questioned if he believed England will secure a victory in this Ashes series, Sam said: "It looks like the Aussies are just too good at the moment."

"There is going to have to be more than one player that stands up for England and turns the game."

Regardless of the result, the siblings are still excited about the trip.

"We are going to have a wonderful trip regardless," said Katie. "We have to go with that outlook."

"Of course, it's unfortunate we can't contest the series, but we have made a substantial financial commitment already."

"We plan to savor spending the festive season in Australia. Additionally, it's mine and Rory's first time away from home at this time of year."

A teacher, Katie is intent on maximizing the long-haul travel as part of her time off.

"If all else fails, there's always golf to rely on," Katie concluded.
