Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor has been charged with committing assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
