Soccer Expert Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts
Arsenal's 10-game victorious run came to an end by the Black Cats before the global hiatus, but will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus AI, fans and a range of special visitors.
In the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
Murs' new album, the new release, is out on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Experiences
Olly is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a benefit match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or son decides to play instead."
Murs and his wife his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not force football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their weekend football team," he said.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.
"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our side for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to be patient for their star's return from injury but their offense is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
I still think this fixture will be quite close, though. Burnley are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, the Hammers won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.
West Ham's only on the road win this season came at Forest in August, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's coach.
Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - will it be the Hammers continuing their run under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?
I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.
The pundit's forecast: 2-0
Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign started, but they have impressed a few people under their manager and are in good form with three in their last four matches.
My son told me to get Bees forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.
The forward will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.
They have not had much fortune on the road this season, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at home. Brentford will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's side carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
Olly's prediction: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it actually proves to be quite close. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.
Fulham have have lots of talent in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.
As for the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.
Their display in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice to do to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the end of last month.
However I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good results because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.
Looking at the home side's home form, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but could they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
