It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batters to maintain a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it was a challenging time because I feel like I've had no rhythm completely," said Healy.

A single came off the opening delivery and from there the batsman was in motion.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was out her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can succeed."

Those words will be the last competing nations at this championship should hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

However although she later admitted those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
