McKenna's Stance on Celtic

McKenna described the Glasgow giants as "a really big soccer institution" but stressed he is "deeply involved" of a "long-term project" with the Championship side.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Portman Road in recent years and led them to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they managed only a handful of victories last season as they were demoted back to the second division and they currently sit twelfth place in England's second tier.

"I have not had any of those discussions," the English capital native ex- Irish youth international said when asked about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my concentration is currently.

"I possess a unique job here at a remarkable club. And we're at a crucial stage of the season. Everything outside of that hasn't touched my awareness."

Background and Agreement Details

It has been suggested that McKenna would be open to speaking to Celtic given his boyhood allegiances.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when questioned about those. "I don't think everyone has to go around and announce what they were, but naturally it's a really big sports organization."

The coach agreed to a fresh four-year contract in last year and was questioned about his alleged buyout clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he replied. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't tell you regardless!

"I approach this role like I'll be Ipswich manager forever. I understand that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I will consistently give maximum effort as long as I am here."

Bellamy's Situation

The former striker represented Celtic on loan from Newcastle United in 2005, but the ex- Welsh striker is inclined to finish the ongoing global tournament campaign, a stance that would effectively rule out the 46-year-old from assuming the Glasgow position.

The Welsh squad are currently in third place in their World Cup group behind group toppers the Red Devils and second-placed North Macedonia.

Wins over Liechtenstein and their rivals in next month would secure their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but guaranteed of reaching that stage, thanks to a successful European competition campaign, even if they not end up Group J runners-up.

Given his current position, Bellamy, whose contract expires after the European Championship, would not be available until after the qualifying matches at the earliest.
